Dantewada, Chhattisgarh: In a dastardly attack on Wednesday 26 April 2023, at least 10 personnel of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and a civilian driver were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. The incident took place when the DRG team was patrolling the forest area of Katekalyan.

According to sources, the Maoist rebels had planted the landmine on the route which was frequently used by security forces. The explosion was so powerful that it completely destroyed the vehicle in which the DRG personnel were travelling.

The incident has sent shock waves across the nation, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning the attack and expressing his grief over the loss of lives. “The sacrifices of our brave security personnel will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the families of the martyred soldiers. We will continue to fight against the forces of terror and violence,” he tweeted.

Security forces have launched a massive hunt to nab the Maoist rebels responsible for the attack. A combing operation has also been launched in the area to flush out the militants.

The incident marks yet another gruesome attack by the Maoists in Chhattisgarh, which has been grappling with left-wing extremism for several years. The state has witnessed several such incidents in the recent past, which have claimed the lives of many security personnel and civilians.
