New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi was elected unopposed as president of the Indian National Congress on Monday (11 December 2017).
Gandhi will formally assume the new responsibility on December 16. This was announced by the party’s central election authority chief Mullappally Ramachandran.
“Since the withdrawal of date and time is over and as there is only one candidate, as per Article XVII (d) of the Constitution of Indian National Congress, I hereby declare Shri Rahul Gandhi elected as president of the Indian National Congress,” said Ramachandran.
