Ashoknagar (Madhya Pradesh): A tribal woman, who reached the primary health center here for delivery, gave birth to a baby out in the open as the health facility was locked and there was no one to attend to the patients.

This hapless village woman went through the harrowing and nightmarish experience at the health center at the Ashoknagar district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh where the State BJP government, led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, continues to shout from rooftops about people’s welfare and doesn’t miss any opportunity to project it’s institutional delivery and “beti bachao” (save the daughter) campaigns.

According to available information, the district collector has ordered a probe into this matter.

The woman involved in this case is Vidya Bai , a (28), a tribal from Kadwaya viilage. She had reached the health center on Friday afternoon with her sister-in-law. As the health facility, was locked and there was no one to attend,  she had no option but to wait. After a while as the labour pain touched it’s peak, she ended up delivering the baby in the open and the new-born lay on the ground till help arrived. This was after the local residents had informed the doctor in-charge Dr BS Jamoriia, who directed that both the mother and the new born be taken to Isagadh by 108 ambulance.
