Bhopal, Jan. 4: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued instructions to the concerned State authorities that fertilisers should be stored in advance to meet the farmers’ demand during the Kharif season.
The chief minister gave this instruction while reviewing the activities of Agriculture Department in the State capital on Saturday. Cooperatives Minister Gopal Bhargava and Chief Secretary Anthony de Sa were present.
The Chief Minister said that farmers should be kept adequately informed about iagricultural inputs keeping in perspective seasonal changes. Agriculture Extension Officers and Kisan Mitras should undertake intensive tours of areas under their jurisdiction and give timely advice to farmers. SMSes containing information about crop safety should also be sent to them by the officers. Information should be disseminated at the village through beating of drums and other means. Farmers should be informed about use of crop medicines and pesticides and their availability should also be ensured.
Mr. Chouhan said that farmers should be educated about the agro-climatic zones and selection of crops as per market driven demand and supply. Farmers should also be motivated for advance storage of fertilisers during this period. The chief minister went on to seek information about procurement of paddy.
