One of the terrorists killed in the encounter with security forces south of Srinagar – Mohd Ismal Alvi alias Lamboo alias Adnan – was a key conspirator involved in the Pulwama attack on 14 February 2019 in which 40 security personnel were martyred. Lamboo, who was from the family of the Jaish-e-Mohd founder and India’s most wanted terrorist Masood Azhar, was named in the chargesheet produced by NIA for conspiring and planning the Pulwama attack.

The second terrorist killed on Saturday has been identified as Sameer Dar of Pulwama. He too was involved in the Pulwama attack and figured in NIA’s chargesheet.

According to the IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Adnan had stayed with the suicide bomber Adil Dar till the day of the Pulwama attack. A viral video of Adil Dar had his voice in it. Adil Dar, who blew an explosive-laden vehicle targetting the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway at Lethpora in Pulwama district in south Kashmir on February 14, 2019, was trained by Adnan.
