Kanpur: Vikas Dubey has been shot dead in an encounter that broke out between the gangster and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Friday morning when he was being brought to Kanpur from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
According to unconfirmed reports, the police shot Dubey when he attempted to flee after their vehicle overturned.
The dreaded gangster was taken into custody by the Ujjain Police from the Mahakal temple in Ujjain and handed over to the Uttar Pradesh police. For Kanpur Police, Dube was the most wanted criminal after the brutal murder of 8 cops last week.

Dubey was on the run after he and his men had ambushed a police party and killed 8 policemen last Thursday. One of his close aides Amar Dubey was killed in an encounter on Wednesday. On Thursday, tow more of his men were killed in separate encounters with the UP Police.
