PM Modi’s remark on judiciary and 5-star activists comes under attack

pm2New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark yesterday at the joint Conference of Chief Ministers of States and Chief Justices of High Courts that 5-star activists are driving the entire judiciary which is not fearless anymore and this is something we have to ponder over has come in for sharp criticism.

The Chief Justice of India Justice H.L.Dattu was prompt in putting the record straight by saying judiciary is as fearless today as they were before.

Several social activists and public figures, including senior Supreme Court Lawyer Prashant Bhushan sharply criticised the PM on his controversial remark

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh reacted strongly saying that the prime Minister’s remark amounts to contempt of court.

The criticism notwithstanding, a number of political figures and senior lawyers also came to the defense of the Prime Minister. a senior advocate speaking as a panelist on this issue said people all over the world know that public opinion and perception do mold judicial decisions and this is exactly what the Prime Minister said when he drew attention to perception and reality.

modihydrocarbonNew Delhi: The first international energy summit in India – “Urja Sangam 2015: Shaping India’s Energy Security” – to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on March 27 will bring together Ministers, CEOs, joint venture partners, industry leaders, academia, technology innovators, policy-makers and thought leaders on a single platform to deliberate the challenges and opportunities of shaping the energy security of India in a rapidly changing energy landscape and an intensely integrated world.

Tis event will focus on showcasing India’s promising potential in the Hydrocarbon sector to the world and on creating an investor-friendly atmosphere. Urja Sangam will create long-term business opportunities by drawing a road map to firm up the country’s energy security, integration of downstream, midstream and upstream segments, besides firming up cooperation agreements with key global players.

The Delhi conclave will become a forum to chart the future of the Hydrocarbon Industry in India and to nourish its all-round development. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, considers Energy security as the backbone of the key government initiatives and according to him, this event will focus on showcasing India’s promising potential in the Hydrocarbon sector to the world and on creating an investor-friendly atmosphere.
