Ahmadabad : Hardik Patel and his followers were detained in morning to prevent his much talked about Ekta Yatra from taking shape and creating disruption to normalcy.
Patel and 78 of his followers were taken into preventive custody when he decided to go ahead with his rally without permission from local authorities.
The route of his Yatra would have passed through many villages in which members of marginalized communities were present in large numbers and could have resulted in some kind of caste war between the OBCs.
Ekta Yatra was the modified and tamed down version of his many-times postponed ‘Reverse Dandi March.’ Patel and his party PAAS (Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti) was denied permission time and again in the wake of ruckus his rally had created in Gujarat earlier wherein administration had been taken to severe task.
Gandhinagar : Although being the stronghold of successful business bigwigs and big ticket jewelers, amidst reservation protests and Patel community backlash, Gujarat government has begun giving a sincere look of attention to the economically weaker sections within the state.
In an effort to resolve the quota imbroglio, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel is likely to offer a special package of incentives to economically weaker sections (EWS) of the socially upper castes. The list of marginalized and demanding communities like the belligerent Patidar (Patel) community agitating for reservations might get some relief due to this step by which this Patidar community will be read at par with the OBCs when these sops are announced in an inclusive manner.
Chief Minister is expected to offer these sops for the EWS, recommended by the seven-member committee of ministers headed by Nitin Patel. The talks are schedule for today when Anandiben Patel will work out solutions during her talks with Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel.
