Behind the success of the BJP is its governance model: PM Narendra Modi

Newsroom 24×7 Network

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday 11 November, following NDA’s victory in the general election for the Bihar State Assembly and BJP’s victory run in bye elections across several States, said: “We all BJP workers, NDA members, led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will spare no effort to prove the resolve of development of Bihar with every citizen of Bihar (Biharwasi)”.

Modi was addressing the “Dhanyawad Program” at BJP Headquarters in the Union capital.

The program was organized at BJP’s central office on the grand success of the party in the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and by-elections across the country.

Today I express my gratitude for the results of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and by-elections held in many states of the country, to the great people of the great country, the PM said adding the Election Commission, security forces and local administration also deserve congratulations for successfully and peacefully conducting these elections.

Salient points of PM’s speech

This election result is also the result of the efficient and effective strategy of Jagat Prakash Nadda, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party. Nadda ji, you go ahead, we are all with you. I heartily congratulate the National President for the impressive victory in the by-elections held in Bihar and other states of the country.

BJP is the only true national level party. We were once limited to two seats, today we are in every corner of India, in everyone’s heart. The people of India, citizens of 21st century India, are repeatedly giving a clear message.

Those who are not able to face us democratically, some such people have taken the path of killing our party workers. The public will teach them a leason.

Elections come and go, but in democracy no one can get votes by playing the game of death, these words are written on the wall.

In yesterday’s results, the people of the country have again decided that in the 21st century, the main basis of the country’s politics will only be development. Those who do not understand, after the Lok Sabha elections, once again they have been shown their place.

We will take every decision that is in the interest of the country and in the interest of the people. Today, the biggest reason for the affection that the country is showing towards the Bharatiya Janata Party, the NDA, is that the BJP and the NDA have worked for the development of the country. The development of the people is our paramount goal.

Today, BJP is the only national party in the country in which the poor, dalits, the oppressed, the exploited, the deprived, see their future. Today, the youth of the country have the highest confidence in the BJP.

Behind the success of the BJP is its governance model. When people think of governance, they think of BJP. The identity of BJP governments is – Good Governance.

In Bihar, the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” has won. Development works have been won in Bihar. Truth lives in Bihar, trust is won! The youth of Bihar live, the mothers and sisters live! The poor of Bihar live, the farmer lives! This is the victory of the aspirations of Bihar, the victory of Bihar’s pride.

“Together we grow.

Together we prosper.

Now, the time has come to take the Chowkidar Spirit to the next level.

Keep this spirit alive at every moment and continue working for India’s progress.

The word ‘Chowkidar’ goes from my Twitter name but it remains an integral part of me. Urging you all to do the same too!

The people of India became Chowkidars and rendered great service to the nation. Chowkidar has become a powerful symbol to safeguard India from the evils of casteism, communalism, corruption and cronyism.”

I bow to the citizens of Kashi. Looking forward to serving them.

On May 21, when Modi met the NDA leasders, he said: “Our alliance represents India’s diversity and our agenda is India’s progress. We are best suited to address regional aspirations and enhance national progress.

He also conceded defeat in Amethi at the hands of senior BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani and thanked the people of Amethi.

On May 19, obviously sensing defeat, Rahul Gandhi had cast aspersions on the working of the Election Commission and raised the bogey of electronic voting machines (EVMs) by stating: “From Electoral Bonds & EVMs to manipulating the election schedule, NaMo TV, “Modi’s Army” & now the drama in Kedarnath; the Election Commission’s capitulation before Mr Modi & his gang is obvious to all Indians. The EC used to be feared & respected. Not anymore.”

Rahul was also his sarcastic and caustic best on May 17. When PM Modi sat with party president Amit Shah as he addressed the media at the party headquarters in Delhi, Rahul tweeted: Congratulations Modi Ji. Excellent Press Conference! Showing up is half the battle. Next time Mr Shah may even allow you to answer a couple of questions. Well done!

List of 20 would-be smart cities released

Newsroom24x7 Desk

Smart cityNew Delhi : The union government is aggressively working on its dream project of developing Smart Cities in the country. In a move which takes the project a step further, centre has identified and released the top 20 Smart Cities list on Thursday. These shortlisted cities, with Bhubaneswar at the top, have been finalized through a ‘challenge’ (read competition) among the 97 contenders.

The scheme of going forward with this program is thus — each selected city would be given Rs 500 crore over a period of five years by the Centre with the respective states expected to make the matching contribution. Selection of these cities would be accomplished on factors, such as – implementation framework, feasibility and cost-effectiveness, result-orientated approach, citizen participation, smartness of proposal, strategic plan, vision and goals, evidence-based city profiling and key performance indicators and processes followed to reach to fulfilling the criteria. Each of these parameters have been allotted points, which would be summed up and the math would be thus worked out.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi failed to make it to the list. Reason — Varanasi ranked way down at 96th position, only ahead of Dehradun which stood at the bottom of the list. However, BJP and associated parties, which constitute a part of NDA-led government in centre, have found place in selection at their respective state-ruled governments too, as 10 cities that have been picked belonged to states ruled by the PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government.

Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bhopal as also the NDMC area of Delhi feature in the select list. Cities of Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Jabalpur, Visakhapatnam, Solapur, Davanagere, Indore, Coimbatore, Kakinada, Belagavi, Udaipur, Guwahati and Ludhiana are the other cities selected in the first batch. Eventually, an alltogether of 100 cities are to be developed into Smart Cities as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious program. For this, the Centre has earmarked Rs 48,000 crore and the states will have to contribute an equal amount.

The Smart Cities program sounds promising on features like — strong infrastructure with water and power supply, sanitation and solid waste management systems, efficient urban mobility and public transportation, IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation.
