New Delhi: After it became clear that BJP would be a forming government in both Maharashtra and Haryana on Thursday, 24 October 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the last 50 years in Maharashtra, not a single Chief Minister has been able to serve continuously for the entire 5 years.

Devendra Fadnavis got the opportunity to work continuously as Chief Minister for 5 years, the Prime Minister said addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here.

In Maharashtra, we did not get an absolute majority in the last election, in Haryana we got a majority of just 2 seats, despite this, the two Chief Ministers served the people with integrity for 5 years, The PM said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in both Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections and expressed gratitude to the people of these states for reposing faith in the party and giving it another opportunity to serve them.

In Madhya Pradesh, Congress party candidate, former Union Minister and State Congress unit chief Kantilal Bhuria has won the bye election for the Jhabua Assembly seat. He defeated his nearest rival Bhanu Bhuriya of the BJP by 27804 votes. This victory is like a feather in teh cap of Chief Minister Kamal Nath and the election result would take the wind out of the main Opposition BJP, which has been bent upon destabilising the State Congress Government enjoying majority with outside support

Mumbai/Chandigarh:The estimated voter turnout till the filing of this report at 7 pm on Monday, 21 October 2019 was Haryana – 62.64% and Maharashtra – 55.83%.

Barring a minor incident in Nuh district in Mewat region where a clash was reported, polling was was by and large conducted peacefully across Haryana. Polling was on low key in Karnal (39.30 per cent), from where Chief Minister M L Khattar is seeking re-election and the constituencyhad recorded a moderate turnout till 3 pm. Till this time, the constituencies where healthy polling was recorded were Julana (61 per cent), Naraingarh (55.60), Mulana reserved segment (54.50), Jagadhri (58.40), Radaur (56.70), Ladwa (61), Thanesar (56), Assandh (52), Tohana (58.20), Fatehabad (58.90), Ellenabad (58) and Garhi Sampla-Kiloi (62.10).

In Maharashtra, polling began on a low note in Mumbai. In contrast polling was brisk in rural areas.In the urban centres like Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad polling remained moderate till afternoon.

Haryana land acquisition scam: CBI registers case against Bhupinder Singh Hooda

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case U/s 120-B r/w 420 of IPC & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act against Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Chief Minister of Haryana, who was Minister in charge of Town & Country Planning; then Chief Administrator, HUDA/Director, Urban Estate, Town & Country Planning Department, Haryana; 15 private colonizer companies and other unknown private persons & unknown public servants. Earlier, in compliance of order dated 1 November 2017 of Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal filed by some of the land owners whose lands were acquired by the Government of Haryana during the period 2009 to 2012 in 9 sectors of Gurugram, CBI had registered a Preliminary Enquiry to verify the allegations and to identify the suspect persons.

It was alleged that during the years 2007 to 2012, colonizer companies and unknown others, fraudulently entered into a criminal conspiracy with the then Chief Minister of Haryana & Minister in-charge of Directorate of Town & Country Planning; the then Chief Administrator, HUDA/then Director, Urban Estate, Town & Country Planning and others with intent to cheat the land owners, public at large & Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) by way of getting issued notification U/s. 4 and subsequently U/s. 6 of Land Acquisition Act, 1894, purchasing lands of related landowners at lesser price and fraudulently obtaining LoIs/licenses on the notified land. It was further alleged that in furtherance of the said criminal conspiracy, with a view to compel the land owners to sell their land at a lesser price to the said colonizer companies, who managed to get issued notification U/s. 4 of Land Acquisition Act, 1894 for the total area 1417.07 acres situated at village Nangli Umarpur, Ghata, Tigra, Ulahwas, Kadarpur, Maidawas, Badshahpur and Bahrampur (Sector 58 to 63 and 65 to 67, Gurugram), which was scattered in many of the pockets sandwiched between licensed land/land on which licenses were applied and thus, not useful for the use by HUDA (now HSVP). It was also alleged that the colonizer companies in connivance with said public servants obtained LoIs/Licenses of approximately 616.397575 acres of land (out of 1417.07 acres notified land) and the said parts of land were released in favour of collaborators/accused colonizers. An alleged loss was caused to land owners, public at large & HUDA and corresponding gain to the accused.

Searches are being conducted today at 27 residential/official premises including Rohtak, New Delhi, Gurugram etc. of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents/evidence.

Violence erupts in three BJP ruled states over Padmavat

New Delhi: A day after the Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition by the Governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and pulled them up for sticking to the stand that the screening of Padmavat should be banned, mobs went berserk and resorted to stone pelting and arson in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana on Wednesday.

Several vehicles were torched and even school and public transport vehicles were attacked while the police remained largely unequal to the task when it came to maintaining law and order in the BJP ruled states.

ESIC officer convicted, gets 4-year sentence in a bribery case

cbiNew Delhi: The Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases in Bangalore has convicted N. Anand Kumar, former Deputy Director, ESIC, Sub- Regional Office at Peenya, Bangalore (North) and sentenced him to undergo four years simple imprisonment with fine of Rs.35,000 in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case against Kumar under Sections 7 and 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations he had issued claim Notices to the complainant in this case in 2013 with exorbitant and illegitimate demands under false pretext to the tune of Rs. 9.5 million.

The complainant met the accused when he came to attend two Court cases filed by ESI during 2012 and 2013 and enquired about the orders of 19 February 2014 passed by him against his (complainant’s) company. Kumar responded by telling the complainant to go in appeal before the Director who can waive the demand. The accused also demanded a sum of Rs. 25000 from the complainant for closing all the issues and Court cases pending against his company. The complainant approached CBI and filed a complaint against the accused. CBI laid a trap and Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant. A chargesheet was filed against the accused on 16 December 2014.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.

3-year Rigorous Imprisonment for a Naib Tehsildar and others

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Panchkula (Haryana) has convicted and ordered 3-year Rigorous Imprisonment for Jai Pal Singh, ex-Naib Tehsildar, working in the Land Acquisition Office at Faridabad; Dhanpat Singh Ranga, the then Assistant District Attorney; Mahesh Chand Sharma, then Section Officer; Narsingh Dass, then Kanungo and one year RI to Yatinder Singh, Advocate with total fine of Rs.6,30,000 under Sections 120-B, 409, 420, 471 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) & 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) & 13(1)(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

CBI had registered a case on 2 March 2005 against those who have now been convicted. The High Court of Punjab and Haryana had transferred the Case to CBI which was earlier registered (FIR No.13/98, 15 December 1998) by the State Vigilance Bureau at Gurgaon on the allegations of defrauding the public exchequer of Rs.7,43,477.

After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 16 October 2006 in the court of Special Judge, CBI cases at Panchkula in Haryana against Jai Pal Singh and others. Charges in this case were framed on 24 September 2007.

The Trial Court has acquitted two advocates, who were accused in this case.

delhi police4New Delhi: The staff of AATS/ West District Delhi POlice has arrested a notorious inter-state Auto-Lifter Robin @ Rahul, a resident of Hisar in Haryana and at present residing at Surya Apartment at Devli village in Delhi.

The arrested person was folliwing a unique modus operandi for stealing cars. He was hugely inspired by the infamous notorious car thief Bunty popularly called
Bunty Chor. He had watched the movie “Oye Lucky Oye” several times based on the life of Bunty Chor and had started imitating his method. He even used to venerate Bunty Chor and kept his picture all the time with him. He was stealing only costly cars like Audi, BMW, Fortuner, Mercedes, and Skoda and was targeting posh colonies. After the house owners were going for their morning walk, he used to enter their homes in the early morning hours and picking up their car keys used to drive away in the stolen vehicles.

Robin was carrying out his stealing opeartion in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and Punjab. He was arrested by Crime Branch of Delhi Police in January this year and was ut on bail since last May. He had formed a gang with the help of Ravi Gangwar, Rohit Singhal and Rahul Singhal. They had met in Tihar Jail. Ravi Gangwal is a notorious criminal of South District in Delhi, where he is involved in a gang war.

Robin was behind the theft of about 6 luxury cars from Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Karnal, Gurgaon and Panchkula in Haryana. One BMW and one Toyota Fortuner cars (Approximately worth Rs. 70Lakhs) have been recovered from his possession. The theft of a BMW car from Noida on 15 July was captured on CCTV.

Chandigarh: The Manohar Lal Khattar-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Haryana is finding itself in a tight corner over the alleged gang rape of women during the Jat quota agitation today appointed a committee of three women police officers, including a DIG of POlice to receive complaints of gang rape of women in Murthal village in Sonipat district during the Jat quota stir.

Haryana Police chief Yash Pal Singal today announced the formation of a three-member committee of lady police officers and said that anyone who has information about the alleged crime can ring up the committee members to lodge a complaint. The members of the committee and their mobile numbers are Dr. Rajshree Singh (9729995000), DSP Bharati Dabas (8053882302) and DSP Surender Kaur (9729990760).

According to available reports, the rioters taking part in the agitation stopped buses and vehicles on the highway passing through Murthal village. They looted the passengers and torched the vehicles. Many agitators even dragged women to the nearby fields and gang raped them. The women were raped in front of their family members including children. The men who resisted were beaten up. Some of the women could leave that place only after the villagers gave clothes and blankets to cover them. When newspersons reached the spot, women’s clothes were strewn around in the field. There are also reports stating that some local villagers told journalists that they have been asked to keep quiet and threatened with dire consequences of they spoke about the incident.

The High Court took suo-moto cognizance of reports and ordered today asking the State Government to address the issue. The Chief Judicial magistrates also have been asked to directly receive complaints from the citizens.

Jat agitation: 12 dead, Bill for job quota will be tabled in Haryana Assembly

New Delhi: After the death toll in the violent Jat agitation for quota in government jobs had gone up leaving a dozen persons dead, the BJP led Central Government succumbed to pressure and decided to bring a bill for granting OBC status to Jats. The Jat agitation, that claimed 12 lives, may end soon as the government on Sunday decided to bring a bill for granting OBC status to Jats. The decision was reached at a meeting chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by National security Advisor, Army Chief, Delhi Police Commissioner and Jat and Khap representatives.

Later during the dau, in-charge of BJP affairs in Haryana Anil Jain said that a Bill for reservation in jobs for Jats will be brought in the coming Budget of Haryana Assembly.

In the meanwhile, water supply in the Union Capital remained disrupted for last two days as Haryana had failed to restore water supply to Delhi. More than a thousand trains had been cancelled and schools have been shut. There are reports of action to disperse the protesters at Akbarpur-Barota canal to ensure release of water but to no effect. Later the efforts to release water were postponed,when one person was killed in firing. In Haryana, there has been large scale rioting, looting and arson. shops, malls and schools have been attacked and set ablaze.

Jat agitation in HaryanaNew Delhi: The Jat agitation for quota in Government jobs today turned violent leaving at least two persons dead and over two dozen injured.

As violence spread in different parts of Haryana Army was called in and the Centre also rushed 1,000 paramilitary personnel to the trouble-torn state today. Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar that the state government will get full assistance to restore normalcy.

The authorities have imposed curfew tonight at Bhiwani and Rohtak. According to official sources, army was being rushed to these places.The agitation has spread to 19 of the 21 districts in the State. according to available reports, rampaging mobs set on fire the house of state’s Finance Minister besides several government and private properties.

Delhi Police seizes illicit liquor in Haryana

delhi police4New Delhi : Delhi Police nabbed sizable quantity of illicit liquor being transported in Sonepat district of Haryana and siezed about 8,478 pints of liquor quantity. Two teams of Operations in the North-west District sprung into action and arrested three bootleggers, including a driver and a supplier, namely Rajesh, Anis and Munnawar and caught them red-handed with illegal liquor quantity being transported in their Pick up Van and Scorpio car.

Police received information of huge quantity of liquor movement during the dry day period, and got tipped off about movement of goods from Haryana into Delhi. Having received the details of the carrier vehicle, a Pick up van HR 45 B 8290, entering via Shakur Pur, during the early hours of morning, the team cordoned off the specific area. As the container reached to the spot and cartons began offloading from the vehicle, the squad team immediately apprehended the accused and got them into custody. The driver of the vehicle, however, escaped, but the vehicle with illicit liquor was confiscated.

A case vide FIR No. 986/15, dated 27th October, 2015 under section 33/38 of Excise Act has been registered in the Subhash Palace police station.

CBI arrests Senior Section Engineer in a Bribery case

cbiNew Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Section Engineer of Northern Railway, Kaithal in Haryana for demanding and  accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000/-.

The complainant was awarded a Railway contract for renewal of turn-outs of Narwana-Kurukshetra Railway line. However, the payment was pending to be released as the Engineer demanded a 5% bribe of the total bill amount.

CBI co-ordinated with the complainant, laid a trap and caught the Engineer red handed while demanding and accepting the first installment of the bribe amount.

3-year rigorous imprisonment to a former BSNL engineer

cbiNew Delhi: The Special Judge, CBI Cases at Panchkula in Haryana has convicted Naresh Pal Singh, ex-Sub Divisional Engineer(Civil) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), who was posted at Faridabad, in a bribery case.

This case registered on December 15, 2008 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation that while posted as SDE (Civil), BSNL, Faridabad, Naresh pal had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant (a Contractor with BSNL, Faridabad) for passing his bills. CBI laid a trap at his office in Faridabad and caught the accused red handed while he was demanding and accepting the bribe. The charge sheet was filed on April 10, 2009. After the hearing that stretched over six years, the trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.

CBI lays trap arrests Western Railway engineer

In a latest development, the CBI has arrested a Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer(Power) of Western Railway posted in Mumbai Central for accepting a bribe of Rs. 100,000 from a complainant.

CBI has registered a case on a complaint against the accused officer of Western Railways for demanding a bribe of Rs.300,000 from the complainant for awarding of contract. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while accepting Rs. 100,000 as bribe from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused person, who was produced at the Designated Court at Mumbai and was granted one day police custody on April 22.
