Narendra Modi interacts with studentsNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today underscored the role of teachers amd said they are known by the accomplishments of their students. While the mother gives birth to the child, it is the teacher who fill them with life.

Modi was interacting with school children from across the country, on the eve of Teachers’ Day. At a unique event anchored by school students, the Prime Minister released commemorative coins of Rs. 125, and Rs. 10 denomination to mark the birth anniversary of India’s second President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The Prime Minister also launched the website for Kala Utsav, an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at the secondary stage in the country.

In his opening remarks on this occasion, the Prime Minister said that there is a special significance of interacting with school children on the eve of Teachers’ Day. He said a teacher is known by the accomplishments of his students. He said that while a mother gives birth, it is the teacher who actually provides life.

The Prime Minister explained that the teacher and the students, both have a unique importance for each other. He said that teachers should also write about their experiences with students.

The Prime Minister remembered former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and said he wanted to be remembered as a teacher. He said that Dr. Kalam had a passion for teaching, and he was interacting with students even upto the final moments of his life.

The Prime Minister said India had great teachers even today, who were helping to create engineers, doctors and scientists who were making a mark globally. He said the aim of teachers should be to avoid creating robots, but to nurture an entire generation.

Delhi Police arrests two inter-State drug traffickers

Manjeet, now lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail, is the linchpin of a drug racket, which he is operating with the help of his contacts. One of his operatives in Odisha was procuring ganja from the naxalite affected areas of Odisha and delivering it to Manjeet’s contacts from Delhi. Two drug traffickers, including a woman, who were involved in this racket were arrested in Delhi today. From their possession the police have seized 100 kg of ganja.

ganja New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi police today arrested two drug traffickers, including a woman, near Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Anand Vihar here.

The Police have seized 100 kg of ganja that was concealed in a Honda City car. The ganja was being brought from Odisha by the accused for supplying in the national capital.

Both the accused Rahul (22) and his 29 year old woman accomplice are from Delhi. The va;ue of the ganja recovered from them is about Rs. 1 crore or US $ 150,000 in the international market.

During interrogation, it has been revealed that the two accused were allured by Manjeet, a drug trafficker and they started working for him on lucrative terms. Rahul’s job was to bring ganja from Odisha and by road and deliver it to Maneet’s contacts in Delhi. He was advised to have a woman as accomplice so that they could bluff the police posing as a married couple. Rahul and his associate became carriers and started bringing ganja from Odisha. They were getting Rs.10,000 each for for every consignment. The accused have told the police that a contact of Manjeet in Odisha, called Mama used to hand over to them the consignment of ganja somewhere in the forests of Lamtapur in Odisha. Mama, they told the police, procures ganja from the naxalite affected forests of Odisha.

Manjeet is lodged in Tihar Jail for about 3 months in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case and he continues to operate through his contacts.

A team of the Narcotics Cell of Delhi Police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police M.A. Rizvi, and comprising of ACP Ravinder Kumar Tyagi, Inspector Akash Rawat, Sub-Inspector Dinesh Kumar, Head comnstable Dharmender, Constables Sohanpal, Ramdass and woman constable Anita, under the supervision of Addl. CP Alok Kumar, went into action and arrested the two drug traffickers. A case (FIR No.134/15 u/s 20/25/29 NDPS Act) has been registered by the Crime Branch in this regard.

Rahul has studied till the 5th standard in his village (Malakheda in Alwar district of Rajasthan). His family had shifted to Raghubir Nagar in Delhi about 15 years ago. His father is a driver and he is the eldest among two brothers and one sister. About 2 years ago, he had come in contact with drug trafficker Manjeet, who also was residing in Raghubir Nagar.

The woman arrested in this case has been living with her husband in a rented accommodation at Mahavir Enclave in Delhi. Her husband is a daily wager. She came in contact of Manjeet about 5 years ago and joined the inter-state drug trafficking module for easy and quick money.

PM stresses on Samvad at Global Hindu Buddhist Conclave

conclaveNew Delhi : Without embracing the path and ideals shown by Gautam Buddha, this century cannot be called an Asian century said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Global Hindu Buddhist Conference titled ‘Samvad’, meaning dialogue, organised by Vivekananda Foundation here today.

Modi elaborated the useful purpose of fruitful and focused dialogue and called for collective global endeavor to end conflict and bring peace all around. Expressing concern over non-state actors unleashing violence over large parts of world territory, Modi emphasized upon  the need of dialogue (samvad) to resolve all conflicts.

Revisiting few anecdotes akin to the likes of Adisankara and Gautam Buddha, Modi firmly stated that India shall always be proud of the fact that it was this land from where Gautam Buddha gave to the world, the tenets of Buddhism.

Enunciating the golden scriptures of Buddhist beliefs, Modi spoke about how Buddhism and environment are closely co-related, and also how, from a Buddhist perspective, nothing has a separate existence. Shedding light on Buddha, Modi said that life of Gautama Buddha illustrated power of service, compassion and most importantly renunciation and shall serve as a platform to resolve human conflicts within nation and among world members.
