New Delhi: Teenager Manu Bhaker placed fifth overnight after the first precision round, shot 290 in the rapid fire round to end with a score of 582, and in the process failed to make the finals of the Women’s 25M Pistol on Friday at the Asaka Shooting range,
Manu Bhaker finished 15th in the overall classifications, but yet again as in the 10M Air event, just two points off the top-eight pace.
Her compatriot Rahi Sarnobat, who needed excellent round for herself and hope that many others above her shot poorly, eventually shot a 286 in the rapid round for a 32ndplace finish and with a qualification round score of 573.
Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) athlete Vitalina Batsarashkina clinched a double gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Shooting competitions, winning the 25M Pistol title adding to the 10M Air Pistol gold she won last Sunday.
Meanwhile Saturday, will see former World Champion Tejaswini Sawant’s Olympic debut, with the seasoned shooter accompanying yet another Olympic debutant Anjum Moudgil, in the Women’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions (3P) qualification round.
Anjum had officially debuted during the Mixed Team Rifle competition.
It’s a 38-strong field in the Women’s 3P with some of the best exponents of the most gruelling of Rifle/Pistol events in the fray.
