Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party President Laxmikant Bajpai on Wednesday 21 July launched a frontal attack on Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati for her Brahmin outreach plan geared for the coming general election to the State Assembly.
Bajpai has confronted Mayawati with a poser that will certainly pin her down.
Reminding Mayawati of the Brahmin conventions that were organised by her before the 2007 elections, Bajpai has conveyed to her – in case she has forgotten – that it was these conventions that had brought her party to power in Uttar Pradesh. But after coming to power, what good did she do for the Brahmins, the BJP leader has asked. He has rounded up his query by further asking, how many Brahmins were booked falsely under the SC/ST Atrocities Act during her rule.
The towering BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh has stated most emphatically that people will not fall under Mayawati’s delusion. They can never forget her slogan – “तिलक, तराजू और तलवार, इनको मारो जूते चार” (Tilak, scales, and sword, thrash them with shoes – the three words Tilak, scales and sword were used by Mayawati for caste Brahmins, traders and Rajputs – only to please the SC/STs and divide the Hindu society on rabid caste lines).
Bajpai has conveyed to Mayawati that it would be better to fight elections not on caste basis but on the issue of development.
