New Delhi: India’s premier investigating agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), will investigate the death of Srikant Rama Swami, undertrial prisoner in Barrack No. 4, Ward No. 2, Jail No. 2 of Tihar Jail in New Delhi on 14 May 2021. The victim was allegedly beaten by his inmates and he died at Safdarjung hospital.

In this case, Delhi Police had arrested four accused (all undertrials). They are presently in Judicial Custody at Tihar Jail.

An FIR was earlier registered at Police Station Hari Nagar in New Delhi on a complaint from Tihar Jail regarding the death of the unertrial prisoner.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case on the directions of High Court of Delhi passed in WP (Crl.) 1105/2021. The High Court ordered that the investigation of FIR No. 243/2021 of 14 May 2021 of Police Station Hari Nagar in New Delhi be transferred to the CBI

CBI has taken over the said case and investigation is in progress
