Bhopal: A one day webinar on “Literature and Self-reliant India” was organized by the Hindi Department of Institute of Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE) in the State capital on Tuesday February 9 2021.
The webinar was set in motion by Dr. S.S.Vijayavargiya, Director IEHE. He underscored the importance of self-reliance adding “it should be linked to every aspect of our life”.
Prof. Nandkishore Pandey, Chairman Bharatiya Hindi Parishad, Prayagraj, who was the Chief Guest, delivered the keynote address. He began by referring to the “Adikavi” (the earliest poet) ans said when the poet talks of “Ann-Jal” (food and water), he is not speaking only about human beings but is pointing to the earth, all its elements and life forms.
Guest of honour and main speaker Prof. Umesh Kumar Singh, Director, Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance Scheme, Government of Madhya Pradesh, emphasised the importance of connecting all sections of people for the sake of country’s self-reliance.
Special invitee Prof. Ila Ghosh, ex-Principal and Professor Government Tilak College Katni, tgrew light on the sources of self-reliance in Vedic literature.
Dr. Pallavi Mishra, Assistant Professor, Department of English, S.D.M. Post Graduate College, Doivala, Dehradun, said diverse literature abounds with all that’s basically required for achieving self-reliance. Also, in India there is a rich folk tradition that encourages self-reliance.
Dr. Sonam Wangmu, Assistant Professor Hindi Department, Binny Yanda, Government Girls College, Nahar Lagoon Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, described the self-reliance of the tribal society of Arunachal Pradesh and said it is closely linked to nature.
Dr. Sandhya Prasad, Head of Hindi Department, coordinated and introduced the subject. Dr. Arti Srivastava, organising Secretary, conducted the webinar. Vote of thanks was delivered by Joint organising Secretary Dr. Arti Dubey.
