New Delhi: India has shot a stern message to warn Canada against a so-called Khalistan referendum for Independent Punjab being organised on 7 November by proscribed Sikh for Justice (SFJ) – an organisation banned in India.
In a clear diplomatic demarche, Arindam Bagchi, Official Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs earlier on Friday 7 October said at a press briefing “it is very sad that such things are being allowed in a friendly country”. India has conveyed its concerns to the Canadian government at different levels, he said adding we expect that there should not be such developments or such activities. India also has issued an advisory on how anti-India activity is increasing in Canada and how much risk can be there for Indians residing there. One should not forget all the violence and the bombing of the Kanishka flight that could be linked to such activities.
