New Delhi: NIA on Wednesday 24 August 2022 conducted multiple searches at the premises of the accused and suspects at 9 locations in New Delhi, Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, Tehri district of Uttarakhand and Jaipur district of Rajasthan in a case registered following the seizure of heroin smuggled into India through the integrated check-post (ICP), Attari on 24 April 2022.
The heroin consignment was concealed in a consignment of licorice roots (Mulethi), sent by overseas suppliers based in Afghanistan. This case was initially registered by the officials of Customs Department at ICP Attari, Amritsar and NIA had registered the case as RC-35/2022/NIA/DLI on 30 July 2022
Searches conducted on Wednesday led to recovery of incriminating material, including documents and digital devices.
Further investigations in the case are in progress.
