Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police Sudhir Kumar Saxena, senior police officers and retired IPS officers paid rich tributes to former DGP late R.P. Sharma at a condolence meeting organized at Police Officers’ Mess in the State capital on Thursday 28 July.
R.P. Sharma, retired Director General of Police passed away on 22 July 2022.
Shri Rajendra Prakash Sharma was born on 23 June 1935 in Nalagarh, District-Solan, Himachal Pradesh. He did his post graduation in English Literature and Economics and after that acquired the L.L.B. degree.
R.P. Sharma was selected in the Indian Police Service in the year 1958. He was posted as Additional Superintendent of Police in Sagar and Bilaspur districts. He served as Superintendent of Police in Chhatarpur, Khargone, and Sagar. He was also SP Railways at Jabalpur and Commandant 7th Batallion SAF, Bhopal and 22nd Batallion of SAF at Raipur. He was then posted as AIG Training and SAF in Police Headquarters. Thereafter he served as Deputy Inspector General of Police Range in District Bastar. He was then on deputation with B S F. While with BSF, he was first posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police in Indore. After that as Inspector General, BSF in West Bengal.
RP Sharma was posted as Director General of Police in Madhya Pradesh from 1January 1991 to 10 May 1992. After that he was posted as Director, Public Prosecution. From 1 January 1993 to 31 December1993, he was again posted as Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh and provided leadership to MP Police.
Sharma was decorated with Meritorious Service in the year 1980 and Vishisht Seva Medal in the year 1986.
