NIA Special Court convicts three ISIS terrorists in ISIS Valapattanam case

Ernakulam: The NIA Special Court here has convicted three persons for providing support to ISIS/ Daish. Those convicted have been members of the proscribed terrorist
organization and were attempting to travel out of India to join ISIS/Daish in Syria to fight for ISIS.

The case was initially registered as FIR no. 1010/2017 on 25 October 2017 at the Valapattanam Police Station in Kerala and was taken over for investigation by NIA on 16 December 2017. After thorough investigation, a charge-sheet was filed by NIA on 21 April 2018 against 4 accused persons.

The details of sentences awarded to the three convicted accused are as follows:
(i) Midlaj, son of VV Moideen, resident of Munderi, Kannur district, Kerala, has been sentenced to 7 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment and fine under sections 38, 39 of UA (P) Act and 120B of IPC
(ii) Abdul Razak, sone of K. P. Ahmed Kunji, resident of Chekkikulam, Kannur district, Kerala. He has been sentenced to 6 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment and fine under section 38 of UA (P) Act and 120B of IPC.
(iii) Hamsa U. K., sone of Ibrahim, resident of Thalassery, Kannur district, Kerala. He has been sentenced to 7 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment and fine under section 38, 39 of UA (P) Act and 120B of IPC.
