Colombo: Days after having fled Sri Lanka on a military jet when protestors demanding his resignation over the island’s economic crisis had seized the President’s house, Sri Lanka President has sent his resignation to the Parliament Speaker.

73-year-old Rajapaksa, who had flown to the Maldives with his wife and two security officials, today landed in Singapore as a private person.
