Srinagar: NIA conducted searches at seven locations in Pulwama in J & K and arrested four accused on Monday 20 June 2022.
- The case relates to the terrorist activities of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in South Kashmir, during which two terrorists were killed by security forces in a gun battle at Chewa Kalan, Pulwama, J&K on 11 March 2022. The killed terrorists were later identified as Aquib Mushtaq Bhat of Pulwama and Kamal Bhai of Pakistan. The case was originally registered at PS, Pulwama as FIR no. 50/2022 lodged on 11 March 2022 and was subsequently taken over by NIA on 8 April 2022.
- During the searches conducted on 20 June, a large quantity of incriminating materials have been seized.
- Based on these searches conducted on Monday, four accused persons namely Sahil Ahmed Khan @ Sohail S/o Feroz Ahmed Khan resident of Gudoora, Pulwama; Jahangir Ahmed Dar son of Nazir Ahmed Dar resident of Gudoora, Pulwama; Shahid Ahmed Shergojri son of Mohd Ramzan Shergozri resident of Ugragund, Pulwama; and Inayat Gulzar Bhat son of Gulzar Ahmed Bhat resident of Pinglena, Pulwama district J & K have been arrested. These four accused had harboured JeM terrorists active in South Kashmir and arranged transportation and logistics for them. They are also involved in radicalising impressionable local youth and motivating them to join terror groups.
So far 118 terrorists, including 32 foreign terrorists, have been killed in Kashmir in current year. Last year, in 2021, total 55 terrorists, including 2 foreign terrorists, were killed in the same period. Of the 118 terrorists killed this year, 77 terrorists are from Pak sponsored LeT and 26 from JeM outfit, according to IGP Kashmir Zone.
In a related development, Srinagar Police informed on Tuesday 21 June 2022 that five houses (properties) have been attached under section 2(g) & 25 of UAP Act as these were being used for purpose of terrorism. It was also found that such harbouring was wilful, repetitive and without any coercion. Many attacks on civilians & security forces were planned from these houses.
