New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation today Wednesday 15 June arrested Kalyani Singh, daughter of Himachal Pradesh High Court Acting Chief Justice Sabina in the Sukhmanpreet Singh @ Sippy Sidhu murder case.
Sidhu was shot dead on September 20, 2015. His body was found the following morning. The CBI told the court seeking the remand of the accused that she was in a relationship and wanted to marry Siddhu but their relationship turned sour after his parents opposed their marriage.
According to available reports, Kalyani Singh was produced before Special Judge Sukhdev Singh, who remanded her to four-day CBI custody.
CBI had registered a case on 13 April 2016 on the request of Chandigarh Administration and had taken over the investigation of FIR No. 374 of 21 September 2015, earlier registered at Police Station, Sector-26, Chandigarh. The case related to murder of Sukhmanpreet Singh @ Sippy Sidhu in the night of 20 September 2015 in Sector 27 in Chandigarh by unknown persons. He was a National level Shooter. He had started his own Law firm in the name of M/s Sippy Sidhu LLB at Mohali in Punjab.
During further investigation, alleged involvement of the accused arrested today came forth in the case. Accordingly, she was examined and arrested.
