Dehradun: A senior woman Physician in a government medical college at Dehradun has resigned after she was ordered to go to an IAS officer’s house to examine his wife. She left her full OPD and went. The travesty of the circumstances is that the IAS officer’s wife allegedly misbehaved with her and asked for an apology for an “imagined delay”. Since the doctor refused to apologise she was transferred from a premier medical college to a small town. Confronted with this abysmal situation, the doctor chose to resign.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday ordered a probe into the matter and directed that her transfer to Almora be cancelled. The CM has also instructed the chief secretary to hold a high-level inquiry. On the CM’s instructions, additional chief secretary Manisha Pawar has been assigned the task of conducting the inquiry.
