Four suspected Jamat-e-Mujahideen Bangladesh terrorists arrested in Bhopal

Bhopal: Intelligence agencies have busted a large module of terrorists by arresting four Bangladeshi terrorists from two places in the capital of the central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh.

Of the six suspects nabbed here, four have been arrested and two detained for interrogation.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said on Sunday that those arrested belong to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). It is the same terrorist outfit that was behind the 2018 Bodh Gaya bombing, the Home Minister said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Fazhar Ali alias Mehmood, 32, Mohammad Aqeel alias Ahmed, 24, Zahooruddin alias Ibrahim, 28, and Fazhar Zainul Abdeen alias Akram Al Hasan.

Some of the suspected terrorists were occupying a rented house in a building near Fatima Masjid, 200 meters from Aishbagh police station in the old city. 

A raid was also carried out simultaneously at a hideout in the Karond area in the suburb, where some of the suspected terroris were arrested. The intelligence sleuths were interrogating those arrested at an unknown place.

Bags full of religious literature, more than a dozen laptops have been confiscated from the premises where the terrorists were living. Explosive substanc and weapons have been seized from both places. 

According to a tenant, 50 to 60 security personnel came at 3 o’clock in the night and fired a shot to break open the lock of the hideout near the Aishbag Police station . A neighbour told journalists that two persons were living at this place on rent for about three months. Nayab Jahan, the landlady of this place, disclosed the name of one of the arrested persons as Ahmed. She said that a few boys were coming to meet him regularly. She also said that a boy named Salman had come to her place to repair a computer. He had requested that the vacant premise be given to a young man who was doing the course of Sharif -e- Alima. He had also told the landlady that later he would also bring his family. After this, he was given the accommodation on rent. Nayab Jehan said whenever she asked for Aadhar card, the tenant kept avoiding it. Then he started saying that they were going to vacate the house in another 15 days. The landlady said that after that she had stopped asking for the Aadhar card.

It is being said that all the terrorists were living here as students and had taken admission in some college. They were trying to rope in the local youth and involve them in terrorist activities.
