“Rocket Boys” – What a series!

I have finished watching “ROCKET BOYS” on SonyLiv. What a series! After “SCAM 92”, this is another Indian series that has set new standards of film-making.

It was a sheer pleasure to watch the characterisation of CV Raman, Homi Babha, Vikram Sarabhai & APJ Abdul Kalam in a cinematic mode. The show is a shining example of how one must approach a biopic.

The overall ambience of pre-and post-independence India is beyond any description-just superb. It never even for a second loses the sense of history. The series successfully transports one to an era when a bullock-cart driven nation was endeavouring to take a big leap forward in the field of science and technology.

Every actor has given a very measured, authentic performance, be it Ishwak Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Divendyedu Bhattacharya, along with a host of other actors and actresses. But the crowning glory goes to Jimmy Sarbh as Homi Babha. He uses every muscle of his body to become the legendary scientist, Homi Babha. Simply a mind-blowing, power-packed performance by this young actor-the same actor who has given stellar performances as a terrorist in “NEERJA”, as an enuch in “PADMAVAAT” and as Brian with wonderful sideburns of ’60s in “A DEATH IN THE GUNJ”.

Go for the series without a single iota of doubt in your mind. You will love and cherish every moment of it. On a scale of 10, this series deserves 10 out of 10.
