COVID19: India bulletin 14 May 2021

New Delhi: In India, from 3rd January 2020 to 14 May 2021, there have been 24,046,809 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 262, 317 deaths, reported to WHO. As of 3 May 2021, a total of 175,171,482 vaccine doses have been administered.

Hnahthial in Mizoram is one district in India with zero active cases right now. There are 24 districts in the country that have not recorded any Covid19 related deaths till date, as per official records. 14 districts did not record any Covid19 case on 14 May.

Friday 14 May: 3.26 lakh in India were confirmed with Covid19 on a day the country lost 3876 persons to the infection. Karnataka – 41.7k, Maharashtra – 39.9k, Kerala – 34.6k, Tamil Nadu – 31.8k, Andhra Pradesh – 22k, West Bengal – 20.8k, and Uttar Pradesh – 15.4k. 

Active cases have started plateauing over last 4 days. Tamil Nadu and West Bengal reported all time highs Friday 14 May.

District/City wise confirmed with Covid19 cases on Friday:  Bengaluru – 14.3k, Delhi – 8.5k, Chennai – 6.3k, Pune – 6.1k, Thiruvananthapuram – 4.5k, N24 Parganas – 4.2k, Kolkata – 3.9k.

General advice: Having a fever, cough or any symptom of Covid19? Isolate immediately and consult a doctor. At the moment, the ‘best’ vaccine is that which you can get at the earliest. Do not delay protecting yourself, your family and the community by waiting for a ‘better’ vaccine. If you get the opportunity to take a vaccine now, ANY VACCINE, TAKE IT. 

Parents to ensure that they wear mask and sanitise hands when around children.

If Parents test positive and children negative: If possible, isolate kids from parents. Move kids into homes of friends and family if possible. In case of infants and kids who cannot be separated from parents, no option but to stay together. Information Courtesy:

Protocol for Breastfeeding mothers: It is fine to breastfeed babies. Mothers should wear double mask and sanitise hands before feeding. Try to limit time of feeding. Clean chest if mother was coughing.
