After a section of the media has come out with reports alleging irregularity in the appointment of Siddharth S, the son K Sivan, Secretary Department of Space and Chairman ISRO, as scientist/engineer ‘SC’ in ISRO’s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Valiamala, LPSC has issued a press statement reiterating that all the posts recruited in LPSC are strictly as per established procedures and norms laid out by the Department.

The LPSC press release is silent on the allegation of nepotism and favouritism with regard to the selection of the ISRO chairman’s son as scientist/engineer ‘SC’.

Since a complaint has been lodged in this regard with the Central Vigilance Commission, it would be appropriate to wait for the outcome of investigation by CVC in this matter.

I can tell you, people become silent after conducting fraud. The following is the example.
The National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Department of Space, Tirupati had issued Advertisement No.NARL/RMT/SC & SD/02/2019 for Post of Scientist Engineer ‘SD’ { Level 11 (Pay Matrix: ₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700)} at NARL site located at Gadanki near Tirupati.
For post of Scientist Engineer SD, the qualification required as per the advertisement was “Ph.D. in Physics/ Atmospheric Science/Space Physics”. The interviews for the post were conducted in the end of February 2020.
Dr Pavan Chaitanya P, the PhD student of Dr. A K Patra (the present Director of NARL) has been selected for this post. If one goes through the advertisement the post was tailored for Dr Pavan Chaitanya. People at NARL on interview day told that the post is for Dr Pavana Chaitanya. In that case, why they should have called us for interviews and waste government money.
When I reported the same to ISRO Hq and also to the DOS officials nobody was bothered and some people told me that it will reflect negatively on me.
If PMO ventures into this type of scam, then I feel some justice will be done and merit will be protected. Lets hope for good.

I verified with my friends at SVU/PRL/SPL. As per the information, the candidate Mr Pavana Chaitanya was recruited as a project JRF at NARL in 2012 and worked under Dr A K Pathra, who was at that time Scientist SF.
I think in 2016 or so he submitted his PhD thesis. You can verify his thesis details under Shodhganga@INFLIBNET—- http://hdl.handle.net/10603/284366.
Dr Pathra, became Director of NARL in 2017. He favoured his student and given with RA. Dr Pavana Chaitanya was appointed as Research Associate (RA) in 2019. This was against the ISRO-NARL advertisement number NARL/RMT/RF&RA/01/2018.
Dr Pavana chaitanya attended the controversial Scientist SD post as a departmental candidate in 2020.
He was recruited as Scientist SD against ISRO-NARL advertisement NARL/RMT/SC&SD/02/2019. He is now a permanent employee of NARL with NARL employee ID number– GN0094 and working under Dr A K Pathra, Director, NARL.
I wonder how, favouritism works in ISRO. I can say this is inbreeding. On long run ISRO and NARL will suffer.
I still wonder what Mr Pavana chaitanya made to Dr A K Pathra to get such favouritism, only they can only say.
