New Delhi: Thirty-seven farmer leaders, including Yogendra Yadav, Medha Patkar, and Rakesh Tikait, have been accused for Tuesday 26 January violence, in FIRs registered by Delhi Police
Delhi Police Commissioner told media persons that police had gone in for maximum restrain to ensure there was no casualty when the rioting farmers were breaking barricades and had even breached the Red Fort. He further informed that 394 police personnel were injured and few of them are in the ICU. More than two dozen FIRs have been registered. Nineteen accused have been arrested and 50 persons have been detained for interrogation. Answering a pointed query, he said anyone found guilty will not be spared.
The Police Commissioner accused the protesting farmers’ unions and leaders of breach of trust. He said they had broken mutually agreed route & timing of farmers’ rally.
Barring Bharatiya Kisan Union, the other protesting farmers unions announced Wednesday evening that their protest against the new farm laws will continue. They also announced the decision to call off the march to Parliament on Budget day.
