New Delhi: The farmers procession on Republic Day which began with convoys of tractors entering the Union capital from Singhu border and Ghazipur before the scheduled time, turned violent, the designated route was breached and police had to use force at several places.
The protesting farmers took the capital to ransom, broke police barricades at Red fort, Ghazipur border, Dilshad Garden, Nangloi, ITO, Singhu border, Tikri, Chilla, NH24, Pandav Nagar and Mukarba chowk.
Red Fort breached

The Violent mob unfurled the saffron (Khalsa) flag at Red Fort. Police burst tear gas shells and also resorted to lathi charge at Red Fort and Singhu border to disperse the protestors, who even vandalised a public vehicles. Many police personnel were injured when mobs went berserk and began pelting stones. Eighteen of them have been admitted in LNJP hospital.
Farmers’ unions and their leaders, who are adamant and are demanding that the new farm laws be repealed and had given the assurance that their tractor procession will be peaceful, on Tuesday afternoon, tried to distance themselves from the violent protestors by taking tbe plea that anti-social elements had infiltrated the protesting farmers.
