Bhopal: Congress MLA from Damoh Rahul Singh Lodhi resigned his Assembly seat and joined the Bharataiya Janata Party on Sunday bringing down the Congress tally in the 230 member-Madhya Pradesh Assembly to 87.

BJP has 107 seats in the Assembly and byelections are now being conducted for 28 seats. Of these 25 fell vacant after Congress legislators, including Rahul’s cousin Pradyumn Singh- a Cabinet Minister, had revolted against their party, resigned as MLAs and joined the BJP earlier this year.
