Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Tuesday, 21 April 2020, administered the oath of office and secrecy to five Cabinet Ministers – Narottam Mishra, Tulsiram Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Meena Singh and Kamal Patel.
Silawat and Rajput were Cabinet Ministers in the Kamal Nath Government are supporters of Jyotiraditya Scindia, the scion of the erstwhile ruling family of Gwalior.

The Cabinet formation comes almost a month after Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister for the fourth time after the fall of the Kamal Nath led Congress government after it was reduced to minority following the resignation of 19 ruling party MLAs, including six Cabinet Ministers – all of them supporters of Jyotiraditya Scindia. Along with Scindia, all of them have joined the BJP.
The delay in the Cabinet formation is more due to the Chief Minister’s focus on handling the COVID-19 situation rather than pulls and pressures of politics as widely being commented by sections of the media. A prominent television news channel has even gone to the extent of pointing to the caste and the reserved categories of the new Ministers in the news report published on its website.
