New Delhi: Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has tendered his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Scindia’s resignation, dated 9 March, says it is time for him to “move on”. He goes on to observe: “While my aim and purpose remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning, to serve the people of my state and country, I believe I am unable to do this anymore within this party.”
Immediately after news of Scindia’s resignation broke, it was followed by a huge development – 19 Pro- Scindia MLAs have resigned. Senior Congress MLA Bisahulal Singh, from Anuppur, has also submitted his resignatiin. They have sent their resignation letters to State Governor Lalji Tandon.
Scindia, it is learnt, will be joining the BJP at the party headquarters in Delhi at 6 pm on Tuesday.
In the meanwhile, K C Venugopal, AICC General Secretary has issued a statement declaring that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the expulsion of Scindia from the party with immediate effect for anti-party activities.
