Japan & North Korea

Japan will continue to closely work with the United States and other countries to analyse information linked to North Korea and do the uptmost to protect itself.

This was the response of the the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan at a press conference on Monday 9 December.

When a journalist drew his attention to reports that North Korea might have tested an Intercontinetal Ballastic Missile and asked how the Japanese Government visualised the test and what kind of vigilance or security system they were having in place, the Chief Cabinet Secretary replied: We always watch the situation and developments in North Korea and gather and analyse information. Japan will continue to closely work with United States and other countries to analyse information and we are doing our uptmost to protect ourselves, the top Japanese offcial told media-persons.

Connectivity of Islands – Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep

With a focus on connectivity of Islands, UDAN 4.0 scheme. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), has invited bids for 3 unserved airports/airstrips in Andaman & Nicobar Island and 1 underserved airport/airstrip in Lakshadweep Island. The ministry has also recognized 4 Water Aerodrome locations in Andaman & Nicobar Island and 2 in Lakshadweep Island that are up for bidding.

India-Australia Secretary-level 2+2 Dialogue

The third India-Australia Secretary-level 2+2 Dialogue was held in New Delhi today. The Indian delegation was led by Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar and Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale. The Australian side was led by Defence Secretary Greg Moriarty and Foreign Secretary Ms Frances Adamson.

Government of India – outstanding liabilities

The quarterly report for July-September 2019 released by the Budget Division Under the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance shows that the the total liabilities, including liabilities under the ‘Public Account’, of the Government of India, increased to over ₹91014.84 billion at end-September 2019 from over ₹88183.92 billion at end-June 2019. The report also points to the fact that Public debt accounted for 90.2 per cent of total outstanding liabilities till end-September 2019.

The net average liquidity absorption by RBI under Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) was ₹1309.02 billion during the quarter.
