New Delhi: Addressing the 250th session of Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, we can say with certainty that the framers of the Constitution must have discussed whether there should be one or two houses (of Parliament). Experience says that the arrangement made by the framers of the Constitution is most appropriate. If the lower House (lok Sabha) is connected to the ground, the Upper House has the ability and foresight to see things afar.

JNU protest

There was heavy deployment of police at the JNU campus on Monday. The police detained many students and also used force to stop them when they were marching towards Parliament on the first day of the winter session. The students are demanding total rollback of the hostel fee hike.

Opposition protest in House

Detention of leaders in Jammu and Kashmir and “false cases” against leaders were issues that rocked the Lok Sabha during question hour on the first day of the winter session of the House on Monday.

Trump called to testify

Democratic House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has invited the US President Donald Trump to testify in front of investigators in the House impeachment inquiry. Trump is under the scanner due to his treatment of former ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who is a one of the witnesses, in the impeachment hearing.
