CBI arrests NBCC DGM for accepting Rs.400,000 as bribe

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a DGM of NBCC, Guwahati for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 400,000 from a complainant.

A case was registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (As amended in 2018) against a CGM, NBCC, Housefed Complex, Guwahati and a DGM, NBCC on a complaint alleging demand of Rs. 5 million as two percent commission of the contract value (the total contract value was more than rs 240 million. The DGM, NBCC was also demanding Rs. 1 million for passing of complainant’s bill.

CBI laid a trap and caught the DGM, NBCC red handed while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs.400,000 (Rs. 200,000 for himself and the same amount for CGM) from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the DGM, NBCC which led to recovery of cash amounting to Rs.10.06 million from his residence and incriminating documents.The arrested accused was produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati and remanded to four days Police Custody. The investigation is continuing.
