For me the future of the nation is everything; Political future means nothing: PM Narendra Modi
Now there is “One nation one Constitution”
There will now be a Chief of Defence Staff
India can become a $5 trillion economy in 5 years
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, 15 August 2019, said we have to build an ecosystem that can ensure all-round progress of the nation with the government acting as a facilitator and not as a hurdle.
The country, for the sake of incremental progress, will have to take a giant leap forward, the PM said India can become a $5 trillion economy in 5 years and announced that Rs 100 lakh crore will be spent on infrastructure projects. He also announced the formation “Jal Jeevan Mission” to bring water to every house and to alleviate the water crisis. The PM also laid stress on the need for judicious and balanced use of natural resources and clean environment.
The Prime Minister was addressing the nation on the 73rd Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
Modi said that we have scrapped Article 370 and 35A to protect the rights of every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. These Articles had only resulted in the spread of terrorism, secessionism, and corruption in J&K, he added. Why Article 370 backers did not make it permanent when they had a thumping majority, the PM asked adding “we don’t ignore or breed problems” whereas their priority has been vote bank and not the progress and prosperity of J&K.
The Prime Minister said now there is “One nation one Constitution” and went on to underscore the importance of “one Nation one election”
The Prime Minister warned the people against population explosion and said it’s the responsibility of every citizen to go for small families. In this way they will not only ensure good care of their children but would also be serving the national cause.
India cannot remain a mute spectator to acts of terror, the PM said adding the country is playing a proactive role in combating the menace. Without naming Pakistan, he said, we will not allow any country to export terror.
The PM praised the Armed forces and said the Army, Navy and Air Force should work with sharper coordination and announced that there will now be a Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) to make the forces more effective.
