Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has marked his six month rule in the central Indian State by proposing to have a special set-up to prevent crime against women and children.
The proposed set-up will comprise of investigating officers, legal advisors, prosecutors and counselors, apart from DNA laboratories and mobile forensic teams.
The Chief Minister has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah apprising him of State Government’s intention. He has also sought budgetary support of Rs. 880 crore (8.8 billion) for the proposed set-up.
Kamal Nath has said in his letter that crime against women and children is a sensitive issue. He said that the State Government is committed to strictly deal with offences against women and children. For this initiative support from the Government of India is urgently required.
The Chief Minister has said that it would require to set up a Cell to check crime against women, procure necessary equipment for investigation, reorganise mounted troops and dog squad, appoint counselors to deal with cases of crime against women. This will require technically skilled manpower, patrolling vehicles and all necessary infrastructure.
