Flop show by Indian shooters at Beijing World Cup

New Delhi: All three Indians in the two medal events missed making the final rounds at the Shooting World cup in Beijing on Wednesday.

In the Men’s 3Prone event Chain Singh’s qualifying round effort of 1165 got him 27th place while Parul Kumar shot 1164 for 33rd position. Senior marksman Sanjeev Rajput was down in 58th with a score of 1145 as India’s medal quest continued on day two of competitions.

In the women section Yashaswani Deswal’s 10thplace finish in the 10m Air Pistol was the best Indian performance of the day. She shot a score of 577 while the 578 was the last qualifying score.

Manu Bhaker shot 575 to end in 17th spot while Heena Sidhu shot 572 to end in 26th position.

Korea’s Kim Minjung of Korea won gold in the event shooting 245 in the finals.

Promising Czech shooter Philip Nepejchal downed Russian rifle ace Sergey Kamenskiy in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) final to claim gold.
