New Delhi: The first phase of polling for the general election to the Lok Sabha concluded today in 91 constituencies across 20 States and two Union territories.
According to available information, the h ighest polling percentage was recorded in Tripura (81.8 per cent) and the lowest 32.29 per cent in Baramula constituency of Jammu and Kashmir. In Jammu constituency, the voting percentage was 67.39.
The voter percentage in Andhra Pradesh was 66 per cent, Bihar 50 per cent, Odisha 68 per cent, West Bengal 81 per cent, Assam 68 Per cent, Manipur 78.2 per cent and Mizoram 60 per cent. Maharshtra recorded 56 per cent polling.
The election Commission told media persons today that 15 electronic voting machines (EVMs) were damaged due to vandalism. Six reports of EVM damage have come from from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh reported five, one each in West Bengal and Bihar and two in Manipur.
