New Delhi: After the Pulwama terror attack that killed 44 CRPF personnel, India has decided to stop the flow of water from the eastern rivers – Ravi, Beas and Sutlej – that flows to Pakistan and divert it to people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.

Union Minister for Water Resources, Shipping, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari made this announcement today (21 Feb 2019).

“Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Sri @narendramodi ji, Our Govt. has decided to stop our share of water which used to flow to Pakistan. We will divert water from Eastern rivers and supply it to our people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab,” Gadkari said in a tweet.
