Bhopal: Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty, 1982 batch IAS officer, will serve as the new Chief Secretary of Madhyta Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath today (29 December) approved Mohanty’s appointment as Chief Secretary.
On joining office, Mohanty will replace Basant Pratap Singh, the outgoing Chief Secretary, who was given a warm farewell by the Chief Minister today.
Mohanty is the Winner of the Global Development Network Award for Most innovative project instituted by the World Bank and 19 International agencies for innovations in governance.
Mohanty won the Global Development Network Award in December 2000 for devising the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) concept. The entry was selected out of over 160 entries from around the world. The Jury included The President of the World Bank, The President of the ADB, Two Nobel Prize Winners and six other leading experts.
The RKS concept involves management of public hospitals with people’s participation. This has now been institutionalized in all public hospitals of the state and has become the basic model for hospitals across the country under the National Rural Health Mission. Mohanty donated the award amount of $125,000 for propagation of the RKS concept.
Mohanty has acquired vast and varied experience in his capacity as Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary School Education, Industries, Public Relations, Cooperatives, Agriculture and Cooperation, besides land Revenue and district administration during his early career stint as Collector.
