BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Kamal Nath, along with senior Congress leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Digvijay Singh, Suresh Pachauri, Arun Yadav and Vivek Tankha, today (12 December 2018) met State Governor Anandiben Patel at Raj Bhawan and presented her the letter to prove majority and stake claim to form the next Government.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan: The outgoing Chief Minister. He will be remembered not for the much hyped Beti Bachao Yojna (Save the Girl Child Scheme) but the menacing “koi mai ka lal” statement (to challenge the worth of every mother’s son wanting to end the caste-based reservation system),  Vyapam scam, illegal sand mining, destruction of forests and rampant corruption under his regime

Following BJP’s defeat in the electoral battle, the outgoing chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has submitted his resignation and is expected to vacate the chief Minister’s residence in the next couple of days.

The Congress, which ended with a tally of 114 in a House of 230, has got the support of 4 newly elected independent MLAs as well as 2 MLAs of the BSP and 1 from the Samajwadi Party.

According to Congress insiders, there is a consensus in favour of Kamal Nath for the Chief Minister’s post. After the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) goes through the process of electing the leader and after the party high Command’s nod, the swearing-in is likely to be scheduled for 14 November.
