Congress party has hit the jackpot in the Hindi heartland by sweeping the Assembly election in Chhattisgarh, establishing a formidable lead over the Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajasthan and emerging as the largest party in Madhya Pradesh.

While the Congress is certain to form its Government in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, there is also every indication that it would also return to power in Madhya Pradesh after 15-years of BJP rule. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath, it is learnt, has sent a letter to the State Governor seeking appointment tonight to stake claim to form the new Government in the State.
