New Delhi: The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Mohali (Punjab) has today (28 August 2018) awarded Death Sentence to Kushwinder Singh, a resident of Village-Suhavi in a case of kidnapping and murder of four family members.
CBI had registered the case on 16 July 2007 on the orders passed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Criminal Miscellaneous case. No. 58783-M of 2006. The CBI then took over the investigation of this Case (FIR No. 59 of 2004 dated 5 June 2004) registered earlier at Bassi Pathana POlice Station in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab under Sections 364/34 of Indian Penal Code and 302 of IPC. The case was registered over the kidnapping and murder of one Kulwant Singh, his wife Harjit Kaur and their two children Ramandeep Kaur and Arvinder Singh.
Kultar Singh, a resident of Polo Majara village in Fatehgarh Sahib district had made a missing/kidnapping and murder complaint against Kulwant Singh and his family on 3 June 2004.
After completion of further investigation, CBI had filed a chargesheet against the accused Khushwinder Singh, resident of Suhavi village under Khamano Police Station of Punjab under Sections 364, 201 and 302 of IPC in the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate, CBI Cases, Patiala on 8 September 2014.
The Trial Court framed the charges against accused Kushwinder Singh on 26 September 2014. During trial, prosecution examined 37 witnesses. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
