Mumbai/Pune: A series of raids today at the residences of Telugu poet Varavara Rao in Hyderabad, civil liberties activist Gautam Navalakha in New Delhi, human rights activists Arun Farreira and Vernon Gonzalves in Mumbai, and trade union activist Sudha Bhardwaj in Faridabad, led to the arrest of four of them for alleged Maoist links.
Today’s raids by Maharashtra Police followed investigations into the Koregaon-Bhima violence between Dalits and the upper caste Peshwas near Pune on 31 December last year.
