New Delhi: President of India Ram Nath Kovind paid floral tributes to Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma, former President of India on his birth Centenary at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (August 19, 2018).
Officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan along with the family members of Dr Shanker Dayal Sharma also paid their respects on the occasion.
A special programme was hosted by Smt Vimla Sharma, Smt Jaishree and Shri Sham Sunder Sharma, Smt Rati and Shri Ashutosh Dayal Sharma at 23 safdarjung Road in the capital this evening to celebrate Dr Sharma’s Birth Centenary. It was an evening of devotional songs attended by dignitaries, family members and friends.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid tributes to former President Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma by garlanding his statue at Ret Ghat in Bhopal today.
Chouhan said on this occasion that the Birth Centenary of Dr. Sharma will be observed with full and respect. The state government will organize inspirational programmes to mark the Centenary. A special committee will be constituted for this purpose. Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma and MLA Surendra Nath Singh were present.
The Chief Minister further said that Dr. Sharma symbolised Bhopal’s identity and the citizens of Bhopal are proud of his accomplishments. He was a great scholar and had led the merger Movement. He discharged his duties with honesty and devotion and elevated the dignity of the high offices he held.
