New Delhi: Finding itself against the wall due to increased terrorist violence and cold blooded assassination of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari and the abduction and murder of armyman Aurangzeb, during the Ramzan ceasefire, the BJP announced on Tuesday (19 June 2018), it’s decision to quit the ruling alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir.
After the BJP withdrew support, Mehbooba was forced to submit her resignation and with this the curtain has come down on the PDP-BJP government in the state.
Stating that it had become impossible to continue the alliance with the PDP, BJP general Secretary Ram Madhav announced at a press conference earlier today that his party was pulling out of the alliance government in J&K.
Madhav said the BJP favoured Governor’s rule in the State.
“Keeping in mind that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and in order to control the prevailing situation in the state, we have decided that the reins of power in the state be handed over to the governor,” Madhav told journalists.
