Rajkot: Four Indian Forest Service officers of the 2017 batch, who were returning along with their batchmates from Gir National Park to Ahmedabad during their West India Tour were attacked and gravely injured by roadside goons on Saturday (March 24, 2018).
The incident occured when the probationers had stopped at a BHARAT Petroleum fuel station at Ribda near Rajkot for refuelling.
The probationers were travelling in a Volvo bus and a Toyota Innova vehicle. According to one of the porbationers present, the violent incident was sparked when one of them had moved to the roadside for a smoke.
According to the eyewitness account, an old man made smioking an issue and started arguing with Vipin, one of the IFS probationers, when he was strolling on the road. At this point Vipin immediately left the spot, This has also been captured by a CCTV camera
The CCTV footage shows the officer returning when the goons came from behind and attacked him.

There are some news reports indicating that the incident was provoked when a probationer had crossed the road to urinate. The probationers have rejected this and described it as concocted news.
