‘Golden Weaver Award’ goes to ‘Womanhood’ a film by Sweta Dutta of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University

Bhopal: Womanhood – a documentary on menstrual hygiene produced by Upasana Verma and directed by Sweta Dutta, a student of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University – has bagged the ‘Golden Weaver Award’ in the 8th National Science Film Festival of India 2018, held at Guwahati.

The film was selected in the category of educational institutions and students. There were 25 films competing from across the country in this category. The Award carries Rs. 75,000 in cash. The award winning film directed by Sweta has been edited by Professor Manoj Patel, also of Makhanlal Vhaturvei University.

Sweta said that this movie not only depicts the problems relating to women’s menstrual period but also attempts to generate awareness about it and encourages the use of sanitary pads. The film especially focuses on the problems of women especially in the rural surroundings..
