New Delhi: Before the first phase of polling in Gujarat on Saturday (9 December 2017), the Election Commission had announced that has out in place an elaborate framework of administrative system of security protocols and procedural checks and balances in Gujarat which prevent any possible misuse of EVMs, VVPATs or procedural lapses in the use of EVMs and VVPATs during polls.
Notwithstanding the EC announcements; regarding the elaborate framework of administrative system to ensure foolproof functioning of EVMs during polls, there have been reports during the first phase of polling on 9 December about complaints that the EVMs could be manipulated through bluetooth connectivity. EC’s response to these reports that have gone viral was still awaited.
